Sally's success story time
GrowinBizKids offers an exciting time for children to hear about some of the greatest success stories that helped shape the world as we know it today. We relate the stories to actions they can take now and in their future to follow these successful footsteps. We discuss with the children what similarities these icons displayed in pursing their goals and how they use this blueprint to achieve their dreams. They will learn that all of these successful people met with some form of temporary defeat before they reached their ultimate goals. Children will be introduced to Carnegie’s formula for success.
WHAT DO I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP?
Go for a “tour around the world” exploring the many different occupations and choices available to you in today’s global economy. The children will be encouraged to discover what it is they want to be when they grow up and will be introduced to Andrew Carnegie’s formula for success. This course is a prerequisite to “WHAT DO I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP, AS IF” that will involve students completing a take home assignment.
WHAT DO I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP, “AS IF"
This class is a follow up to “WHAT DO I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP?” which must be completed in order to take this course. Students will present to their peers the ideas of what they want to be when they grow up and what it takes to achieve their specific goal(s). Children will be acting “as if” they already achieved their goals. This is a fun class with lots of class participation. Students are introduced to Andrew Carnegie’s formula for success and public speaking tips.
KID ENTREPRENEURS
This is a uniquely constructed course where children learn what entrepreneurship is and how anyone at any age can be one. We introduce children to successful kid entrepreneurs in combination with hands on activities that rouse the interest of our future entrepreneurs. We share Andrew Carnegie’s formula for success with the students and they learn how these young entrepreneurs turned their ideas into a reality, but more importantly: that they can too!
THE DREAMINATOR
It is important for children to want things, as it drives motivation making one feel they can achieve their goal. This lesson is designed to give students a chance to explore what type of lifestyle they want to have when they grow up, what the cost of such a lifestyle would be, and the importance of being willing to work hard for that type of lifestyle. Children will become engaged in conversation regarding opportunity costs and decision-making.
PLANBOT: TAKE CHARGE OF GOALS
GrowinBizKids will work with students to design a plan geared toward helping children begin thinking about their brighter future. This lesson is designed to give students an understanding of how powerful goal setting can be. Students will learn how to set a realistic and measurable goal. They will also learn how to monitor their goals in order to maintain an ability to reach them. A fun, hands-on activity that highlights the importance of having a definite plan.
THE MOTIVATOR: NEVER GIVE UP
This lesson is designed to give students an understanding of how hard one must work to accomplish their goals. The will have an opportunity to work with a team to build a buzzer, and have some very challenging puzzles to solve. The kids will talk about mistakes, how we can learn from them , and how they help to build our motivation.
MASTERMIND TIME
Teamwork is a key component to this lesson. It is designed to support children in problem-solving skills and to promote positive communication while working in groups on common sets of goals. Children will learn how and why they should form a kid mastermind group.
POSITIVE pete's PEERS
GrowinBizKids provides techniques to assist students to have a positive mental attitude towards all they do and remain positive toward all the challenges they face in every day life. We will help the children to discover their strengths and teach them how they can use these techniques to build on those strengths. GrowinBizKids compares success responses vs. failure responses, positive vs. negative emotions, and what the benefits are to kids if they can stay on the positive side of things.
I CAN DO IT, WATCH ME PROVE IT
This course is designed so the children recognize the benefits of taking responsibility for their own actions. They will learn to be aware of the dangerous "can’t trap." They will find that there is a lesson to be learned in their mistakes and how to use them to their advantage.
THE BRAIN GAIN TRAIN
This course is lots of fun designed specifically to sharpen students’ sense and general memory. The “five-sense” activity provides a great time for students while enhancing brain performance. Students will work in teams, play a series of memory games/puzzles, and learn that they have the power to strengthen intelligence with a little effort on their part.
THE HISTORY OF MONEY
This lesson is designed to give students an understanding of the history of money, the differences in currency and an understanding of what it means to barter. Children will participate in a simulation requiring them to barter and create a money system.
BETTER BANKING with beck
This course involves a banker or Certified Public Accountant to come to your location and speak with children about the banking system. They will touch on subjects such as checking/savings accounts, interest, investments, what are debits and credits, how to maintain a checking account, and what are assets and liabilities. GrowinBizKids will provide checks and ledgers for the students to practice writing checks, deposit slips, and keeping a balance. A must for any money conscious kid!
BUDGET WITH BECKY
The students will participate in an activity that requires them to work in teams to complete tasks such as budgeting and planning for an event. The students will be rewarded for their efforts in teamwork, creativity, and efficiency.
field trips
